Objectives and scope
The main objective of the CS Journal. Social Studies on Latin America is to disseminate social science research on historical and contemporary issues in Latin America. Latin America includes the Latin American population that has emigrated to other countries for various reasons, and whose study is relevant to understanding Latin American problems.
The journal publishes research and review articles, case studies, and book reviews in the fields of sociology, political science, anthropology, social psychology, education, history, and cultural and gender studies.
It is aimed at researchers, students, and others interested in Latin American studies. Its content aims to contribute to the construction of new knowledge on social and cultural issues in Latin America, as well as to foster debate on them. The publication languages are Spanish, English, and Portuguese.
Rev.CS is an open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed journal published quarterly with a rolling publication model. The journal was established in 2007 and is funded by the Faculty of Human Sciences at Icesi University (Cali, Colombia).
Sections
- Editorial Note: In this section, the editor will inform readers of important editorial decisions, such as article retractions, changes to editorial policies, changes to the Editorial Board, and other updates.
- Introduction: This article provides an overview of the issue's content and highlights aspects worthy of readers' attention. These articles are written by guest editors or a member of the Editorial Board.
- Articles: Contains research articles, review articles, and case studies of 15 to 20 pages (approximately 10,000 words, with the possibility of extensions subject to Editorial Board approval), not including bibliographies, appendices, tables, or images. They are peer-reviewed.
- Other Topics: A section included in thematic issues to differentiate articles dedicated to the specific topic from those dealing with other topics. The articles in this section meet the same characteristics described above.
- Documents: Publishes interviews, transcripts, statements, and relevant documents in the fields of social sciences and humanities. These texts are selected by the Editorial Board based on submissions from the journal's readers.
- Reviews: preferably of books published in the last 5 years. These texts are selected by the Editorial Board based on submissions from the journal's readers.

Peer review process
The double-blind peer review process is a commitment of our journal. It guarantees the impartiality of the review process, promotes integrity, academic excellence, and the utmost objectivity and quality in the evaluation of manuscripts previously selected by the editorial team.
Throughout this process, both authors and reviewers remain anonymous, thus eliminating any potential bias based on identity or reputation. Reviewers are committed to adhering to the journal's standards and the guidelines defined in our publication ethics policy ( see more information ).
In each issue, readers will find a collection of articles rigorously reviewed by experts in the field, who have provided detailed and constructive feedback that ensures the published work meets the highest scientific standards.

Periodicity
CS Journal ( ISSN 2011-0324 | E-ISSN 2665-4814 ) is a continuous, open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed, quarterly publication. Although all articles in the journal are bound to an issue, they may be published in advance once they have completed the editorial process.
Articles for thematic issues are received during the periods established in each call and are assigned to the respective issue.
Free-theme articles are received on a rolling basis and are assigned to issues on a first-come, first-served basis.
Publication ethics
CS Journal adopts the Committee on Publication Ethics ( COPE ) guidelines on publication ethics to prevent misconduct and has implemented streamlined correction and retraction procedures to ensure readers that all published articles meet the quality criteria defined in the guidelines for authors.
The following behaviors are considered unacceptable and will result in rejection of the manuscript at any stage of the publication process:
- Redundant publication
- Simultaneous/multiple sending
- Plagiarism
- Falsification of data (photographs, statistics, graphs, etc.)
- Falsification of information (author affiliation, signatures, etc.)
- Impersonation and falsification of authorship
- Conflict of interest

Plagiarism check
CS Journal uses Turnitin anti-plagiarism software to ensure the originality and authenticity of all published articles. Each article undergoes a thorough anti-plagiarism analysis to detect any possible overlap with previously published works. This process guarantees that the journal's content is original and genuinely contributes to the advancement of scientific knowledge.
By using this technology, we reaffirm our commitment to the academic integrity and quality of our journal, protecting our authors, reviewers, and our community of readers.
Errors in publishing articles
When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his or her own published work, it is his or her obligation to promptly notify the journal editor ( cs@icesi.edu.co ) and cooperate with the correction.
Likewise, reviewers and readers may email us their comments and suggestions to improve the quality of our publication or to carry out correction or retraction processes.
In the event of information about possible cases of misconduct, the journal's editorial team will act in accordance with the guidelines established by COPE ( see more information here ).
Storage and preservation
CS Journal uses LOCKSS archiving systems, promoted by the PKP Preservation Network, to ensure the long-term permanence and accessibility of all published articles ( see information on preservation status in Keeper-ISSN ).
Sponsor
CS Journal is funded by the Faculty of Human Sciences of Icesi University (Colombia) and does not impose article processing fees (APCs). Furthermore, the journal does not accept or include commercial advertising on its website or in its digital editions.
Privacy Statement
Personal data included in the CS Journal database will be used exclusively for the purposes stated by this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or disclosed to third parties.
CS Journal refrains from using unethical communication strategies to promote its issues and disseminate calls for papers .
Copyright and Open Access Notice
The journal CS. Social Studies on Latin America is an open access journal. This means that all content is freely available at no charge to the user or their institution. Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without prior permission from the publisher or author. All of the above is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.
Material published in CS Journal may be reproduced without authorization, provided the title, author, and source are cited. The journal is distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license . This license allows others to distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon the journal's content non-commercially. New works must always acknowledge the original source and are not required to be licensed under the same terms.
Authors are permitted to reuse the postprint (the final PDF version of the journal). Furthermore, authors are encouraged to disseminate their articles on social media, academic social media, personal websites, blogs, among others, and to deposit them in institutional and public repositories. These actions promote early circulation and dissemination, which can increase their citation and reach within the academic community.
