This research analyzes the quality of management practices in Spanish companies, applying the methodology of the World Management Survey through interviews with company managers. The results show that the management quality of Spanish companies is lower than in more advanced countries. However, similar patterns of behavior to those found by the World Management Survey at the global level are identified, such as firm size, internationalization of the company, employee skills, intensity of competition, ownership by dispersed capital, professional management in family-owned companies, gross domestic product per capita, or flexible labor regulation are associated with better management quality. The paper concludes with a series of recommendations for companies or organizations that aim to improve their management.
